Uma Thurman and John Travolta-with ponytail-danced their way into a classic movie while eating at the fake '50s diner Jack Rabbit Slim's. Although this scene was actually filmed on a sound stage in a Los Angeles studio lot, a super fan lovingly recreated the backdrop for John Travolta and Uma Thurman's dance all the way over in the UK. Jack Rabbit Slim's opened in 2004 and serves all of your favorite American fare, including cheeseburgers, fries, and $5 shakes.
Three Broomsticks (Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone)
In both the book and film, Three Broomsticks figures prominently. Located in the hidden Diagon Alley, Three Broomsticks is one of the first magical places Harry Potter dined at as a new wizard. Their signature drink, a non-alcoholic, spiced beverage by the name of Butterbeer, supposedly has mild healing powers. If you want a little taste of this treat, visit Universal Studios' The Wizarding World of Harry Potter in Florida. The theme park has one of its very own Three Broomsticks restaurants, where you can try all of the best fare the wizard world has to offer.
Monk's Cafe (Seinfeld)
Every episode of this classic show about three friends featured a shot in Monk's Cafe. Their favorite haunt served up good, greasy diner food and a cup of hot java. For the interior shots of Monk's Cafe, Tom's Diner stood in. The diner is still open today, at 2880 Broadway in New York City. Jerry Seinfeld is said to visit the location on occasion, so you might be able to recreate an episode.
Double R Diner (Twin Peaks)
Double R Diner was the setting for one of the greatest murder mysteries of the 90s. Audiences tuned in every week to watch the mystery slowly but surely unfold. Twede's Cafe provided the backdrop for Double R Diner. Today, visitors to the cafe will find it unrecognizable; a fire in late 2000 burned most of the eatery to the ground. Rex Il Ristorante (Pretty Woman)
In one of the most famous scenes from the movie Pretty Woman, Richard Gere's character takes Julia Roberts' character to a fine dining location for an evening of exquisite cuisine. Not used to the fare of finer restaurants, Roberts is baffled by the escargot, and she ends up flinging one of the snails into the eyes of a waiter. That might lead one to think that there's a reason Cicada, the stand-in for Rex Il Ristorante, doesn't have the dish on their menu any more.
